Tenby's roots date back to the time of the Norman Conquest. Much of the medieval castle walls, built to fortify the town from the Welsh rebellion, have survived intact to the present day. Tenby is one of the prettiest resorts in Wales, unspoilt by commercialism and retains its natural seaside charm, especially along narrow cobbled streets lined with shops, cafes and restaurants are also reminders of this bygone age. Along the sea-front there are seats and shelters at vantage points to view the magnificent coastal scenery. The resort is split by a rocky headland into two beach sections, the south beach and the north beach with its harbour.
